Practical and brilliant. Nobody is more attuned to dogs and their owners, than Cesar Milan.

This guy makes SO much sense. I love that he teaches the underlying principle that enables us to help our dogs with such a broad spectrum of problems. Reading this and watching his shows, together comprise a wonderful training package.
Cesar is SO obviously a sensitive loving wonderful man. Those who hatefully denigrated him are jealous cruel zealots.

understand one thing, FIRST

Cesar is a phenominal dog trainer, but more importantly he is relationship oriented to dogs and people. Don't expect your typical do-this and then-that kind of dog training book (which btw, have never been successful for me). I can relate to him better than I can those other types of trainers, for this very reason. He is developing a bond first, the respect that then follows naturally is where the discipline and 'training' flow from. Then if there are any 'tricks' or specific techiques( read 'tools')needed, he brings them into play as necessary. It never did make sense to me that to train my dog I would have to purchase expensive training tools in order to get the job done; I did and 'they' did nothing to enhance my efforts. From Cesar I have learned why my pets from childhood on did not obey me or take direction. Worse,they were confused by me. I see that as I have developed as a person of consistence, calm confidence and self-respect, first; my animal family members have quite naturally responded with very little 'training' needed. Expect to hear him repeat this message; most people are slow to grasp this becasue it is about them, not the dog. Not to deviate, but try training a horse before you understand and possess a strong, calm sense of leadership. Buy the book and his other materials and watch him work with his clients; if you are open to it, you will not only have better behaved companion dog, but you will be a more confident and balanced human.

Happy Puppy

I love Millan's philosophies and practices with dog training and behavior issues. I have a very well behaved dog who receives compliments every where we go. He is great off leash, in company of other and suspicious dogs... I owe it all to Millan. I started to read his books prior to adopting my dog over a month ago, and my dog is awesome due to my research and interaction based on Millan's philosophies.
